Application of a biphasic hydrogel-based artificial gland system in an osteoporotic animal model.

This biomimetic artificial gland system composes an ultrasound-responsive biphasic hydrogel. At room temperature, the hydrogel is liquid so it is easy to inject the hydrogel into the body. As the temperature elevates to the body temperature, gelation of the hydrogel keeps itself stay in the lesion area. Without ultrasound, a very low drug release was kept. Increase in drug release only occurs with ultrasound treatment. Streaming and pressure gradient produced by ultrasound push the drug molecules outside the hydrogel and into tissues.

本產品聚焦於一種體內人工藥物釋放系統,以超音波刺激的方式達成控制釋放的效果,師法人體中內分泌腺體。這系統內含充滿藥物的兩相水膠,在常溫下呈液態,不需切開皮膚,可以注射方式注入體內,溫度升至體溫時轉為膠態,停留在注射部位而不會流到其他地方,而內含物僅在外在超音波刺激之狀況下,才將其內含物釋放至人體中發揮作用,可減少病人每日注射之不適感。這系統是本團隊過去十餘年在超音波生醫應用,與高分子水膠研究累積能力之總和。
